Engine air intake removal

Remove Engine Acoustic Cover:
First, locate the four mounting latches on the engine acoustic cover. Then, press in on each of the latches to release the cover from its secured position.

Once you disengage the latches, carefully lift up on the cover to remove it from the engine. If the cover feels stuck, make sure you have fully released all latches before attempting to lift again.

Finally, set the cover aside in a safe and clean location to avoid damage or contamination before moving on to the next steps.

Remove Intake Duct Upper Vacuum Hose:
First, locate the intake duct upper vacuum hose. Then, press in on the retaining clip to release it. Once you disengage the clip, carefully pull the hose off the connection.

Next, carefully remove the hose without damaging the surrounding components. If you feel resistance, double-check that you have fully pressed in the retaining clip before pulling again.

Finally, set the hose aside in a safe place to avoid contamination or damage before proceeding to the next steps.

Remove MAF Sensor Electrical Cable Connector:
First, locate the MAF sensor electrical cable connector. Then, press in on the side clips of the connector to release it from the sensor.

Once you fully disengage the clips, carefully pull the connector off the sensor. If you feel resistance, double-check that you have pressed in both side clips completely before pulling again to avoid damaging the connector or sensor.

Finally, set the disconnected cable aside in a safe location to prevent any damage or interference with other components before proceeding to the next steps.

Remove air filter box mounting bolt at rear of air filter box (10mm socket 3/8″ / 3/8″ ratchet & medium extension).

Remove Intake Resonator Mounting Bolt:
First, locate the intake resonator mounting bolt positioned just to the rear of the MAF sensor. Then, using a 10mm socket with a 3/8″ ratchet and medium extension , carefully unscrew the bolt.

Once you loosen the bolt, leave it in the bracket as instructed instead of fully removing it from the assembly. This step helps you avoid losing or misplacing the bolt during the repair process.

Finally, double-check that the bolt remains securely in the bracket before proceeding to the next steps.

Loosen air filter box plastic knob mounting clamp at fender side of air filter box (6mm socket 1/4″ / 1/4″ ratchet & extension).

Remove Secondary Air Hose from Air Filter Box:
First, locate the secondary air hose at the front of the air filter box. Then, use a 6mm socket with a 1/4″ ratchet and extension to loosen the clamp securing the hose to the air filter box.

Once you loosen the clamp, carefully pull the secondary air hose off the air filter box. If you encounter resistance, gently wiggle the hose while pulling to release it without causing damage.

Finally, set the removed hose aside in a safe location to avoid contamination or interference with other components before moving on to the next steps.

Lift Up and Remove Air Filter Box and Intake Duct:
First, carefully lift up on the air filter box and intake duct to begin the removal process. Then, gently wiggle the air filter box to pull its mounts out of the fender. This step may require some patience, as the mounts can sometimes be snug.

If resistance is felt, try wiggling the box from side to side while lifting to help release it without causing damage. Once the mounts are fully disengaged, continue lifting the assembly out of the engine compartment.

Finally, set the air filter box and intake duct aside in a safe location to avoid any damage or contamination before proceeding to the next steps.

Engine air intake installation

Install Air Filter Box and Secure Mounts:
First, position the air filter box by aligning its three mounts into their designated locations. Ensure that each mount is properly seated before proceeding.

Next, insert the lower large air boot into the duct, making sure it fits snugly. Then, introduce the upper plastic knob into the rubber boot, ensuring a secure connection.

Afterward, insert the rear lower rubber knob into the bracket. This step is crucial for stabilizing the air filter box during installation.

Finally, wiggle the air filter box slightly while pushing down firmly to fully mount it in place. Double-check that all components are securely attached and properly aligned before moving on to the next steps.
